2026 municipal election candidate questionnaire

The following questionnaire was sent to all candidates in the 2026 Ottawa municipal election on September 14. We asked them to respond by September 28 and will post their answers below as we receive them.
Mayoral candidates
- If elected, will you take up the mayor's OPSB seat?
City council candidates
- If elected, will you seek appointment to OPSB?
Councillors currently on OPSB
- Will you commit to establishing the same rules for public delegations to OPSB as for committees of City Council?
- Will you commit to only discussing in camera those items that OPSB is required by law to discuss in camera?
- Will you commit to establishing a policy requiring OPS to comply with its obligations under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA), and to holding the chief accountable to that policy?
All municipal candidates
- Will you commit to voting against any increase to the OPS operational budget?
- Will you commit to blocking any use of City of Ottawa reserves to cover OPS deficits?
- Will you commit to extending the ANCHOR program to cover the entire city, with proportionate funding?
- Will you commit to removing ANCHOR from OPS' control?
- Will you commit to repealing the "Safe Access By-law" (also known as the "Bubble By-law")?
- Will you commit to rolling back the "enhanced security measures" at City Hall?
- Will you commit to launching an independent inquiry into OPS' policing of protests?
